Delighted to announce that following out Visit England Inspection in March that The Borrowers has been upgraded to 5* Gold rated – we always knew it was a special place and a special experience and now it is ‘official’! We still have a few dates in March in The Borrowers available (sorry Bee’s Knees is fully booked) come and celebrate with us! How about a St Patrick’s Day experience complete with Irish Stew, Guinness Cake, a pint of the black stuff and shamrocks – who could resist!
The last few days have been so warm and beautiful here, with the contrast of thick frost over night and sunshine during the day. The stars have been so beautiful and bright – a combination of the clear skies due to the cold and the fact we have little to no light pollution here at Olde Farm – so if you are a star gazer it has been perfect! The gardens are coming back to life we have daffodils, snowdrops, hellebores and crocuses already in flower and the tulips are not far behind. The ducks are nesting so the pitter patter of tiny webbed feet will be with us soon and the moorhens are building their nests. Spring is in the air!
Good morning everyone, woke up to our first proper snowfall of the Winter! Olde Farm has been transformed into a sparkling jewel in the sunshine. The ducks and swans are not as happy as they might be as the pond is currently frozen over but the pugs and Miss Betsy have had a wonderful time playing in the snow and chasing the cats.
The days at the end of November are proving to be every bit as beautiful as the early ones, the sparkling night frosts are giving clear skies and the most amazing views of the stars through the windows or out in the garden if you wrap up warm and take a hot chocolate with you! Hard to believe that soon it will be Christmas, but still lots to look forward to here at Olde Farm at one of my favourite times of the year, so if you fancy a relaxing (or busy) last minute pre-Christmas break here in beautiful South Norfolk we still have a few dates available and some amazing craft and food markets events taking place – including seals now being born. The lights in Norwich are beautiful and the carol concerts in the cathedral are an absolute must! Alternatively book yourself in for a post-Christmas break, to take long walks along the country and coastal paths to shed some of those festive pounds that you have gained and see Norfolk in all it’s Winter beauty, then come back here for a BBQ in The Smial or curl up in front of the fires with a good book and a glass of wine and relax until you go out and do it all again the next day. Check our website for availability and then give us a call or send an email. Looking forward to hearing from you and sharing the delights of Olde Farm.
Yesterday and today we have been treated to the most amazing sight of a family of three eagles flying and circling over the pond here at Olde Farm. Though I have to confess that the ducks and swans were less than happy at the thought of becoming breakfast for the birds!
Nature is just amazing and we are so lucky to have so much of it here to see and experience.
